متن کاملTreating complex movement disorders in children with cerebral palsy
Cerebral palsy is common, affecting about 2-3 per 1000 children. These children may have a motor disorder characterised by spasticity, dystonia or both. This can result in significant difficulty with activities of daily living, pain and long term joint deformity. There are a number of treatments available for the management of spasticity and dystonia. This review will examine indications and pr...
متن کاملThe Effectiveness of Mindfulness Training on Emotional Schemas Mothers of Children With Cerebral Palsy
Objective Mothers of children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) are susceptible to emotional problems like stress, anxiety, and depression which can lead to emotional schemas like rumination, not expressing emotions, lack of values, and feeling guilty. These negative beliefs about emotions cause ineffective thoughts and inappropriate behavior patterns that affect the mental health of the mothers. In thi...

Objectives: Hypertonicity is a major problem in children with cerebral palsy that has not been explained effectively to address clinical decision making. Therefore, this article aims to provide a theoretical framework about hypertonicity for clinicians, rehabilitation and medical practitioners to be used in their practice. Methods: Literature was reviewed to examine the new perspectives towa...
متن کاملThe effectiveness of passive stretching in children with cerebral palsy.
Passive stretching is widely used for individuals with spasticity in a belief that tightness or contracture of soft tissues can be corrected and lengthened. Evidence for the efficacy of passive stretching on individuals with spasticity is limited. The aim of this review was to evaluate the evidence on the effectiveness of passive stretching in children with spastic cerebral palsy. Seven studies...
